Context and Purpose: Contemporary leadership styles exert significant influence on employee behavior and performance. Among prominent leadership approaches, transformational leadership and wise leadership emerge as particularly effective in fostering positive organizational behaviors. Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), characterized by voluntary actions extending beyond formal job requirements, enhances productivity and is demonstrably influenced by leadership styles. This study examines the impact of transformational leadership and wise leadership on OCB among employees in Mazandaran's Department of Education.
Methodology: This study, in terms of purpose, is applied research, and in terms of data collection method, it follows a descriptive-survey design. Adopting a quantitative approach, the research was conducted using SEM. The statistical population comprised all employees of the Mazandaran Provincial Department of Education. A simple random sampling technique was employed to select a sample of 169 participants. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS and LISREL software.
Findings: The findings obtained from the survey clearly reveal that through appropriate model fit indices, the proposed model was supported strongly by data collected from respondents. Further, it has been found that transformational leadership has positive and significant influence on OCB. In simple words, employees with high levels of transformational leadership engage more in organization citizenship behaviors. On the other hand, wise leadership influenced OCB with a higher impact coefficient and showed that it is effective in fostering OCB.
Conclusion: Obtained results are so critical since they enlighten on the importance of wise and transformational leadership in developing OCB and by focusing on such leadership styles, organizations in general can maximize productivity in general. It is, therefore, proposed that the managers should work towards the development of leadership competencies which will aid in generating a transformative and informed environment for the Department of Education so that OCB can thrive.
