Context and Purpose: The main objective of this study is to accurately identify the factors affecting job boredom (antecedents) and its consequences (consequences), focusing on employees and managers of the Social Security Organization. This study intends to prioritize the most important driving factors and key consequences of the job boredom phenomenon by using quantitative modeling to provide management solutions.
Methodology: This applied research, which has a survey-exploratory approach in terms of data collection and is based on a deductive-inductive philosophy, consisted of managers and employees of the Social Security Organization as the statistical population of the study. Purposeful sampling continued until the theoretical saturation principle was achieved. Data collection tools included semi-structured interviews (qualitative) and questionnaires (quantitative). Data analysis was performed in the qualitative phase using content analysis and in the quantitative phase using the fuzzy cognitive mapping (FCM) technique.
Findings: The research findings show that in the qualitative part, various antecedents and consequences of job boredom were identified. These factors include the following: Antecedents of job boredom include: lack of job resources, workload, monotony and repetitiveness of work, lack of interest in work, work-life imbalance, lack of purpose, inconsistency with values, automation, perceived over-competence, and red tape. Consequences of job boredom include: low performance, mental health, cyberloafing, absenteeism, decreased well-being, anxiety, procrastination, unproductive work behavior. he central factors in the model, based on the central index, include "
Conclusion: The quantitative results of the study, focusing on prioritizing these factors, showed that the most important antecedents among the factors affecting job boredom were red tape, which was recognized as the most important driver due to its greatest impact. Also, the most important consequences among the consequences of job boredom were unproductive work behavior, which was recognized as the main consequence of this phenomenon due to its greatest impact capacity.
