In recent decades, reverse mentoring has received great attention as a new educational model in organizations for transferring knowledge and experiences from the younger generation to the older generation.
Reverse mentoring allows a younger person to share their experiences and knowledge with an older person as a mentor.
The purpose of the present study is to identify the components that affect the implementation of reverse mentoring using a meta-synthesis approach.
In the present study, data obtained from previous sources were combined using the meta-synthesis method and the seven-step model of Sandelowski and Barroso.
The words "mentoring" and "reverse mentoring" were also used to search the title, abstract, keywords, and main text of the resources available in databases.
After determining the search protocol and article selection indicators, 85 articles were finally selected.
The evaluation of the selected articles led to the identification of 8 components along with 26 sub-components or elements. By meta-synthesising the data, this research defined a successful reverse mentoring model in three critical dimensions: interpersonal competencies, organizational empowerment and innovation, and overcoming structural and cultural barriers.
The results of this analysis show that reverse mentoring is not simply a tool for exchanging technical knowledge, but a transformative management strategy whose success depends on striking a delicate balance between soft skills and cultural reforms.
